Artist Statement

My works arise from situations that touch me and in which something remains that cannot be resolved. I combine language, text, and movement into choreographed scenes—live, in video or audio pieces. The participants now work on the imaginary and intangible, from which choreographies emerge in which structures become visible and continuously change. I also capture movement sequences and scenes in drawings. This results in performance scores that define and document, aim to provide impulses, and at the same time offer space for individual interpretations and actions. It is about connections, concepts, understanding and not understanding – and about dropping, resuming, and transforming words, actions, and ideas.
How do we deal with abstract concepts and situations? Can we form a community capable of acting, which reacts flexibly to situations and shapes them through our actions?

Meine Arbeiten entstehen aus Situationen, die mich berühren und in denen etwas bleibt, das sich nicht auflösen lässt. Ich verbinde Sprache, Text und Bewegung zu choreografierten Szenen – live, in Video- oder Audiostücken. Mittlerweile arbeiten die Beteiligten am Imaginären und Nicht-Greifbaren, woraus Choreografien entstehen, in denen Strukturen sichtbar werden und sich fortlaufend wandeln. Bewegungsabläufe und Szenen halte ich auch zeichnerisch fest. Daraus entstehen Bewegungspartituren, die festlegen und dokumentieren, Impulse geben wollen und zugleich Spielraum für eigene Interpretationen und Handlungen bieten. Es geht um Verbindungen, Begriffe, Begreifen wie Nicht-Verstehen – und um das Fallenlassen, Wiederaufnehmen und Umformen von Worten, Handlungen und Vorstellungen.
Wie gehen wir mit abstrakten Begriffen und Situationen um? Können wir eine handlungsfähige Gemeinschaft bilden, die flexibel auf Situationen reagiert und sie durch unser Handeln gestaltet?
