Von Zeit zu Zeit Bodenhaftung verlieren oder Betwixt and Between – Loosing Ground From Time

Von Zeit zu Zeit Bodenhaftung verlieren oder
Betwixt and Between– Losing Ground From Time to Time

Performance (ca.15min)

2017

Only on my knees, my body touches a blue carpeted floor. My knees are bent, my upper part of the body lies on my ties quiescent. The head is turned aside and looks into the camera. It foats as close as possible above the ground. I balance. Apparently autonomous, my arms move gestural. The relaxed expression of my face and the partly tense, partly loose gestures of my arms and body are antagonists who claim alternately the full attention for themselves. My hands are clenched to fists – by the end of this state, I pinch them firmly.

My look changes. I have more contact with the here and now. It was a state of both. I was not me and not me. It’s a moving stuck. A program that begins, lasts a few moments, and then stops. How autonomous are the different parts of my self? How do I get in contact with them again and thus influence my actions?

Working on the imaginary object

Working on the imaginary object
Situation 2

Performance
Kunsthalle Mannheim
Konstruktionen der Welt
2019

A group of people is working on something that seems invisible. The object is characterized by what happens between people in the imagination of the observer and the actors. How the people got into this situation is not communicated. The group got into this situation and has to deal with the given means in these circumstances. Joint action is a requirement. Structures become visible in action and develop further in the meantime.

And yet everyone has their own idea of the circumstances, everyone has their own questions. Complete. We have to do this together now. Approaching the complexity of the situation in order to loosen up, fix and transfer individual aspects in flowing role movements. Situational approach to social conditions. Don’t be afraid of abstract problems! We’ll work it out together. How will work look like in the future and what role does what happens between people play? How to deal with seemingly abstract issues and conflicts? Can we build communities that are capable of acting, that are able to react flexibly and flexibly to situations and shape them through their actions?

The work was created within the framework of Konstruktions der Welt, Kunsthalle Mannheim and the union of various artists as a working group VolumeV.

Volume V is an open working group that was located in the Volume V MASH Center (MASH: Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) in front of the Kunsthalle in Mannheim from September 2018 to March 2019.

We research how art and economy can be rethought in public space – through interactive work, with local situations and in contact with people.

In “Gerhard” I play a woman who is desperately walking through Seoul looking for Gerhard. She calls his name. She doesn’t find him. In her search she meets other people who react aggressively to her or ignore her. It is questionable whether the search is really only for Gerhard. The questions of who and where Gerhard is remain unanswered.

To support their daughter in her artistic endeavors, her parents pose with her in garbage bags for a family portrait. The youngest member of the family, the twelve-year-old cousin, is standing at the shutter release button of the camera, ready to press the shutter release button. The uncle watches and assists. After acting in front of the camera, mother, father and daughter go behind the camera and comment on the photos together with the uncle and cousin. All those involved enter this experiment openly and actively, almost playfully, which creates a serious as well as humorous situation. We comment on the situation and the photographs that were taken, laugh or get serious again.
